Kaltura Download For Mac: How to Use the Capture, Meetings, and MediaSpace Tools

Directions for how to install Kaltura Capture will vary based on the use of a personally-owned or university-owned Mac computer. University-owned Mac computers require administrative privileges to install; however, personally-owned Mac computers can download the program similarly to the Windows computer instructions.

Once the application has downloaded. Open it to install it. In this example I have used the Chrome web browser so my downloaded file appears in the bottom left of the browser window where I can click to open it. What happens for you will depend on what web browser you are using.

Permissions to download Kaltura videos are limited to the video owner and those who have been granted co-editor permissions for a specific video. The steps below will show you first how to enable the download option, and then how to complete the download.

Please note that when you create a screen recording with Kaltura Capture with both your screen recording and your webcam enabled, Kaltura keeps these two video files separate. Kaltura ExpressWith Kaltura Express, you do not need to download anything. The following video will walk you through how to get started recording quick videos using Kaltura Express.

To launch Personal Capture (or to install it), choose "Kaltura Personal Capture" from the "Add New" menu in mediaspace.illinois.edu, or where you can see your media in Canvas or Moodle. Personal Capture is available to all current faculty, staff, and students. You must log in to access the tool.Sample recording of the output from Personal Capture from a Windows system. If you haven't installed the application you will be asked to choose your operating system, Windows or Mac and download the client. Selecting Add New, then Kaltura Personal Capture will ALWAYS take you to a page to download the client. You only need to download and install it once, but you will see this window each time. We recommend that you access the tool in this way, as opposed to using a desktop shortcut to the application.

Once you select Stop on a recording, you are presented with a window to preview the recording and add meta data. If you Save the recording, it saves locally. If you Save & Upload, it will upload to Kaltura and appear in your MyMedia list. We recommend Save & Upload to Kaltura, but you can save it for later upload.Unless you set the application to delete after uploading to Kaltura, your recordings are saved locally and can be viewed or reused from the local folder. This is useful when someone wants to edit their recordings for use later. Currently only one source can be downloaded from Kaltura online, so local access is used when the second (or both) video files are needed. Directions to access your recordings locally are found at: -personal-capture-folder-directoryThe files will be in the Recordings folder within personal capture

VERY IMPORTANT: Kaltura Capture minimum system requirements are Windows 7 to 10, 32-bit and above, or Mac 10.12 to 10.15., and requires a minimum of 4 GB of RAM. Try switching to the Firefox browser if you are having trouble downloading. 2ff7e9595c
